In December of 2015 Kendric took a leap of faith– he moved to the SF Bay Area from Mississippi with the hope of starting a new life. Upon arrival with nowhere to stay he checked into the Bay Area Rescue Mission. Keeping a positive attitude and not wanting to let anything stand in his way, he turned to the Reentry Success Center for help and resources. He learned about Rubicon’s two week readiness program, and was placed into Berkley Food and Housing, where he now has a stable living environment. As a Navy veteran, he was also referred to the Veterans Resource Center for help getting his DD-214 (official military discharge) and for veteran-specific housing assistance. Kendric came into the Center almost every day for three weeks to use the computer for job search. Now, his dedication and persistence are paying off. He landed a job as a cook at the San Pablo Casino, and is line for permanent housing in the very near future.
